What to Know About the DAO Vote on CAWG Proposals

What is CAWG?

   - The Cadet Work Group (CAWG) is a key part of the Jupiter DAO ecosystem, focused on driving community engagement, education, and expansion. It supports initiatives like the Catdet Corps and fosters growth within the "Jupiverse."

Purpose of the Vote

   - The Jupiter DAO community is voting to approve funding for CAWG’s operations. This budget will support salaries, contributors, moderators, community initiatives, and rewards, ensuring the group can continue its work effectively.

Budget Breakdown

   - Salaries: $312,000 USDC for 5 full-time members ($5,200/month each).  

   - Contributors: $90,000 USDC, including $30,000 for regional contributors.  

   - Moderators & Initiatives: $60,000 USDC for community moderation and projects.  

   - Rewards: $60,000 (50% in $JUP) for Catdets and "Cats of Culture."  

   - Locked $JUP: 750,000 $JUP tokens with a 1-year cliff for long-term commitment.

Voting Process 

   - Jupiter DAO uses a token-based governance system where 1 staked $JUP = 1 vote.  

   - Token holders lock their $JUP at vote.jup.ag to participate. Voting power decreases linearly if unstaking (30-day unlock period).  

   - The vote is live as of March 17, 2025, with community discussion ongoing.

Why It Matters

   - Approving the CAWG budget strengthens community-driven efforts, aligning with Jupiter DAO’s goal of decentralized governance.  

   - It also ties into the broader Active Staking Rewards (ASR) program, incentivizing participation with $JUP and launchpad fee rewards.
